WHY I VOTED NO- TO REDUCE THE BOARD SIZE FROM 38 TO 36

I wanted to write a little something on why I voted against reducing the size of Winnebago County Board from 38 to 36.

I planned on voting against all three resolutions concerning the reduction of the Winnebago County Board size but only one was presented and voted on. I decided to vote against all three for I felt that the public had a right to be heard on the issue of what the size of the County Board should be.

SB 4 which created the statue to allow citizens the right to determine the size of the County Board was done to give the public a chance to do what the county board was unwilling to do themselves.

I firmly believe that any of one of the three resolutions dealing with size of the County Board was a political ploy to circumvent what SB 4 was intended for. The residents and voters that selected me as their County Board Supervisor surly are capable to decide the size of the Winnebago County Board.

If those Winnebago County Board Supervisors who did want to cut the size at all firmly believe that is the majority opinion of those living in Winnebago County; then they should let people decide by referendum if the size of the Board should be cut. If the C.U.T ( those leading the petition effort to have referendum) arguments are not firm or genuine then the measure would be defeated. Once and for all the public would be heard on the issue and then it would go away to focus on more important issues facing the Winnebago County Board.

I am sadden that my colleagues on the Winnebago County Board did not have faith in those who they represent and voted for them to make this decision. I belive in letting democracy work.

ONE PERSONS ANALYSIS OF THE DEMOCRATIC AG'S RACE

Part II of my analysis of the Democratic AG primary is up on my blog:http://reform-dem.blogspot.com/While part I was focussed more on why Kathleen Falk won the race, partII takes a closer look at the numbers. To do so I created another map, this one color coded to show the margins for each county in terms ofvotes, as opposed to percentage as in my previous map. Although thetwo maps look quite a bit different, as you might expect, they bothlead to the same conclusion: The outcome of this race was determinedby Falk's fundraising advantage. If not for the fact that Falk was able to run TV ads in theWausau/Rhinelander and the La Crosse/Eau Claire media markets withouta response from Lautenschlager, she almost certainly would have lostthe election because Lautenschlager actually won the rest of the state.Be sure to check my blog for a little more in-depth discussion and tosee the maps:http://reform-dem.blogspot.com/Russell__._,_.___
