Co-chair at Fall Gathering/Membership Meeting (Oshkosh, WI)

At the Fall Gathering/Membership meeting held this past weekend, members elected Ron Hardy to the position of Co-chair of the Wisconsin Green Party. He will serve a two-year term, joining Ruth Weill, who is beginning the second year of her term. The Wisconsin Green Party strives for gender balance in all positions of leadership. "I am honored to have been elected to a position of leadership,” said Hardy. "No other party offers a stronger vision for reinvesting in our state's long-term health and welfare. Our elected leaders from Madison to Racine and across the North have proven that Greens can make a difference in their local communities and across the state.” Ron Hardy is a librarian at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.

He was formerly the co-chair of the Lake Winnebago Green Party, a member of the WGP Coordinating Council representing the 6th CD, and a regional volunteer for the Eisman, Vogeler, and Bussiere campaigns for office. He is an advisor for Rainbow Alliance for HOPE (Helping Others Perceive Equality), and advised the UW-Oshkosh Students for a Fair Wisconsin. Ron and his family live in Oshkosh where they are active in both the campus and the community. Hardy was actively involved in protesting the implementation of Diebold TSx touch screen voting machines in Winnebago County, and worked with the 2005 Troops Home Now initiative in Oshkosh. He is currently campaigning with others against draconian reductions to the Winnebago County Board.“I’m glad that Ron has been elected Co-chair, said Ruth Weill. “I’ve worked with Ron on many party projects, and he is very capable. He has a wealth of experience, and will be an asset to the party.”
