!!!!!!!- UPDATE --ORDINANCE NO. 136-122006: Amend Section of the General Code of Winnebago County -UPDATE !!!!

I just received an updated and amended agenda for this Tuesday January 9, 2007 Special Orders meeting of the Winnebago County Board meeting.

On the agenda is reconsideration of Ordinance #136-12206, which created the map for supervisory districts for the April 2008 election, for County Executive Mark Harris has vetoed the resolution. The County Board will attempt to override the veto of the County Executive which I takes a 2/3 vote in favor by the Winnebago County Board.

In his veto message to the County Board he wrote the main reason for vetoing the resolution because there has not been a judicial determination whether the Board's action to create a 36-district plan or a plan to cut the Board to 19 supervisory districts will move forward. And he will not approve any map until the number of district is clarified.

I voted against the map at the December 19.2006 meeting and I plan to uphold veto of the County Executive on Tuesday.

--------------------------------------------------------------
It is with great sorrow that I must write about and report on the passing of great friend, civil servant, family man, and all round caring person.

Forrest "Woody" Weber and his wife Dale passed on while being involved in car accident on a Missouri highway heading back from Texas on Sunday afternoon.

Woody as many as you know is member of the Winnebago County Board of Supervisors since 2004. In the past he has served for over 20 years on the Menasha City Council and before that the Menasha Area School District School Board. He cared for Menasha and the people he served for with great passion. He regularly communicated with his district by way of his very infamous newsletter for which he handed out to his district 3-4 times a year.

He also gave more back to his community serving on his local church council and Appleton Lions Club plus in many many other way. The Menasha area as well as the Fox Valley area in general will be greatly missed due to his passing.
I will hopefully have more to add to this post.
But until then my prayers go out to Woody,Dale, and his family of which included a daughter, son, and four grandchildren.
