Governor addresses the WCA Legislative Exchange
I along with a few of my fellow County Board Supervisors attended the Wisconsin Counties Association Legislative Exchange held in Madison, WI on February 6-7. It is my plan to add more that learned from the two days in later posts. But this post will be dedicated to the first thing on the agenda which was remarks by Governor Doyle to the group on Tuesday morning.
The Governor gave a preview of the state budget he will unveiled next Tuesday February 13,2007 ; particularly that part of the budget that deals with county and local government. The Wisconsin Counties Association did issue a press release summarizing what Governor Doyle would putting in the next state budget that directly effects county government.
The full press release can be viewed by clicking on the link below, But the highlights are - SHARED REVENUE increase of $2.7 million for counties; COURTS : $19 million increase in payments to counties for circuit court operations' $3 million increase for the Victim Witness Protection Program: $500,000 increase for court interpreters.
There is more but'the increase in Shared Revenues and the increase in the amount of support the state of Wisconsin will give in $$$ to fund the court system will mean better chance for real property tax relief and getting the state of Wisconsin to pay for the costs for the court system in the state of Wisconsin . An idea voters in this county voted in favor of overwhelmingly in April of 2005 at the voting both.
Below I have a poll for your view on the proposals. As always I welcome your coments and views on the proposals. I do hope you click on the link to see the entire press release.
