SHORT MEETING- GOOD NIGHT FOR MANY -BUT BE ON THE LOOKOUT

I was wrong it was not a long night at the Winnebago County Board meeting last night. In part because the proposal to have user fee put in place for users of the soccer fields was pulled from the agenda.

Also because those speaking in favor of the resolution to fund the expansion and upgrade of the Communication Center at UW-Fox Valley where very concise in making their argument for why the project should be done. I do give a great deal of credit to Dean Perry for lobbying and making a very good presentation last night for it passed 35-2 over mine another supervisor voting against the project. It was not easy to vote no for I felt the project was worth while but it is a project that should be done and considered by the State of Wisconsin and the state legislature.

While the soccer fee proposal was pulled by the committee chair he did stay the committee should consider a lease agreement with the soccer organization. I would oppose that as well since the could the impression that an outside organization would have exclusive rights to the soccer fields - a logistical nightmare in my view.

LONG NIGHT COULD BE INSTALL AT THE 1/16 WINNEBAGO COUNTY BOARD MEETING

It may not last as long as the last Wednesday's Oshkosh Area School District School Board meeting, but looking at the agenda the Winnebago County Board of Supervisors meeting for Tuesday January 16, 2007 it could be a long night.

I say that because of two issues the bonding for the Communication Center for UW-Fox Valley and the Parks and Recreation Committee trying to bring back the fee for those who use the soccer fields at Winnebago County Park.

I have made position clear one issue in earlier post. That I do not believe that County government does not belong in the Higher Education service (business) that should be done by the state of Wisconsin. I will be voting against the Communication Center for UW-Fox Valley, I think the project should be consider and taken by the State Building Commission, the UW Board of Regents and the state legislature.

This county board as well as all levels of government need to look what it does do for services and what it should be using taxpayer money for. With that each level of government should look at what services/programs it provides and for efficiency should duplicate what another level of government is doing or should be doing. For that reason Higher Education/Secondary Education is a function left to the State of Wisconsin.

On the Soccer User fees I will oppose this as I did a few years ago. For one it will only bring in at best $14,000-15,000 plus it only applies to the organized soccer leagues not to all users of the soccer fees. A group of individuals could use the fields every week and pay nothing as long as the did not reserve fields to play on. It would target the organized soccer leagues but all others would not have to pay anything. THAT'S NOT FAIR----that is why I am voting against the Soccer Users Fee.

If you come to the meeting expect to stay late I expect alot of comments from the public.
